purveyors of fine urban nature

September 7th, 2008

What a rain we had last night!  At the farm it looks to have been about 6 inches.  Dan spent the day Saturday plowing in our most wet fields, knowing that if we got a good soak he wouldn't get another chance to get to plow for the rest of the season.  When you spend a good part of the day on the tractor like that it tends to rattle your brain a little bit.

Hooray - we are done with transplanting for the season.  Finally no more seeding.  All the fall greens have been planted and the only other planting is cover crops and garlic.  We still have a lot of hoeing to do but the field work is getting under control.  We're really in 2 modes right now - prepping for next season and harvesting.

Here's this week's harvest: lettuce, zukes, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, garlic, celery, beets, collards....

If you can make it up to the farm this weekend, we'd love to see you there!
Enjoy!
